That's a big pine cone he's got.
Female cardinal staring at me.
Carolina wren looking up in the trees.
This is either a Louisiana waterthrush or a northern waterthrush. They are so similar. I'd have to see them side by side to compare. It was a first one for me.
Butterfly art.
Still pretty quiet in the parks a few weeks ago. It's hard to get out and find different things when I've only got Saturday mornings to look right now. Things have been pretty busy with work and a trip to South Dakota (more on that later). I took the above on a hot Labor Day weekend Saturday morning. But things are looking up. Migration is happening now (although work is keeping me from a most of it) and soon things will cool off a bit.
All beautiful Dina.

Your photos are wonderful! The wren is stunning and the colors in the cardinal shot are beautiful! I'm glad I came across your blog!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a nice park, Dina. That's a Northern Waterthrush. A Louisiana would be extremely rare this late.
ReplyDeleteFantastic pictures. The squirrel's is a winner. :)
ReplyDeleteDina - Your captures of the wild creatures are wonderful! That last is like a painting.
ReplyDeleteHi there - looks like the squirrel is about to drop the cone on you. Splendid "character" shot.

A stunning set of photo's, especially of the butterfly. I love the ambitious squirrel with his big pine cone. Fantastic pics.
ReplyDeleteIs he squirrelling the whole pinecone away for the winter? Lovely birds and such a pretty, spotty butterfly. I loved your whole post. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGreat close ups Dina. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteNice watertrush! One way of telling the difference is by location: the Northern W prefers quiet waters, the Louisana W needs rapidly moving water to thrive.
ReplyDeleteLovely birds to see.. thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful series of photos.
ReplyDeleteLovley shots, Dina! The cardinal and wren are my favorite. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots Dina. It's nice that your weather is starting to chill out a little. We Northeners will be sending you your winter birds shortly. I must have seen 200 Great egrets fishing together today. Get ready!
ReplyDeleteNice! That top pic is too much. He hit the jackpot.
ReplyDeleteTerrific shots, Dina! I love the little squirrel looking down from above - looks like maybe he's aiming that pine cone at you!
