Great blue heron posing for us.
Snowy egret blowing in the wind.
Small alligator on the rocks giving me a big smile.
Eastern phoebe. I'm starting to see these everywhere.
Lots of butterflies at the park.
Hubby noticed the snake in the tree.
A couple of Sunday's ago the day started off dreary. Drizzle and wind. By noon it had cleared up and after watching tv all morning I jumped off the couch and said "I'm going to Circle B for an afternoon walk." Hubby said "I think I'll go with you." I said "What, you don't want to stay home and watch football and golf all day?" So off we went. The reserve is about 45 minutes from our house. It was a gorgeous day. Cool, mostly sunny and a little windy. On the way there I talked about all of the things we would see. I think he jinxed me. I talked about all of the big alligators we'd see (we only saw 2 tiny ones). I talked about looking for the baby limpkins (no sign of them). I talked about birds migrating through (almost none in sight). I talked about the eagles rebuilding their nest (no eagles). I said we had to keep a look out for the bobcat that everyone had been seeing (no bobcat). Oh well, at least we had a nice two hour walk. The highlight was the snake. And he was surprised at how many butterflies were there. They were flying everywhere. I think I might leave him home on my next trip.
all of these are gorgeous, but the shot of the phoebe is just enamouring. you captured his pert little personality perfectly! :)
ReplyDeleteJust catching up from being gone ... love all these photos, of course! Love your capture of the little phoebe!
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh at the story at the end- he definitely jinxed you! Gorgeous egret shot. I can't even imagine birding with alligators walking around- think I might be on edge!

ReplyDeleteawesome photo's today, each one very special!!
I just returned from a trip to Key West, so I really enjoyed looking through your blog and became a new follower. Your photography captured such beautiful wildlife.
ReplyDeleteWOW! All these images are great. It would be difficult to pick a favorite, but I like the smiling gator! :D :D
ReplyDeleteI love the windblown egret, and the adorable phoebe cocking its head for your camera.
ReplyDeleteDon't tell your husband he jinxed you, he might never get any exercise again, ever.

You have some great shots here! I always crack up with your "Hubby" posts. (My hubby never sees the good stuff at Circle B, either.) How are the preparations for the air-conditioned backyard bird blind going?
ReplyDeleteI was wrong! My post mentions a snake - but I rold my readers I bet they'd not see another one on My World Tuesday!! Great shots - how do you get the wildlife to pose so well for you??!!
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures. Especially liked the birds
ReplyDeleteIt seems like you saw plenty of wildlife and had a nice walk as well. I love the expression on that phoebe.
ReplyDeleteWow.. such lovely photos! Thanks for sharing these!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a fantastic place to visit..
ReplyDeleteWonderful images of all the beautiful wildlife.
Great selection Dina.
ReplyDeleteI love that Snowy Egret.
You might not have seen what you expected but you did get some great photos.
ReplyDeleteI think you fared very well - I love that Snowy Egret and have yet to capture a Blue Heron - nicely done!
ReplyDeleteDina,

Greetings from Roberto, Brazil
Gorgeous shots of the heron, egret, and phoebe! The gator photo is awesome, too, Dina!
ReplyDeleteThe Snowy egret shot is awesome Dina, I love the pose. I know what you mean about taking along a partner on birding trips, it can be distracting. Nature is not Disney, it does not abide by a schedule. Hopefully next time he gets his gators and you get your limpkins!
ReplyDeleteEven if you didn't find what you wanted to, it still looks like you had an awesome trip to show off the place! Love the shot of the snowy egret -- and it's always fun to see gators, no matter the size!
ReplyDeleteNot bad at all for a 2 hr. walk! Love the snake, a great shot indeed. The pose of the Snowy Egret is deliciously intriguing.
ReplyDeletebut you did get to see quite a variety. I love the phoebe!
