More skimmers getting ready for bed. The one on the left is yelling "Someone turn the lights out!"
How'd that snowy egret get in the crowd?
Looking at their reflections.
Willet's got a crab.
Marbled godwit getting a snack before dark.
I took these the last week in October. Right before the time change and it was still a little light on my way home from work. I stopped along the Courtney Campbell causeway after work to get a quick walk in before it got dark. The tide was extremely low and most of the birds were far out in the bay. I was walking around in my flip flops but they kept getting stuck in the wet sand so I finally took them off and tied them to my bag. It got dark pretty quick. I had about 45 minutes to walk around. Now I drive home in the dark until mid-March.
beautiful light in that last one especially! and those skimmers are too funny looking!
ReplyDeleteLove the skimmer and especially the last picture, great light and colors.

Great selection of shore birds, Dina. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your shorebirds, Dina. I particularly like the second and third photos although, of course, as Marion said, the last photo has the wonderful light and color.

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful 45 minutes you mast of had with your camera there on the beach. These photos of the little shorebirds are wonderful. The little ones are so sweet. Love the shot of the 2 side by side. It is almost like a mother and a child. Lovely post.genie
ReplyDeleteThat is a golden light Dina. Shore bird life along the coast in Florida is a treasure trove. I know you will miss your walks and the photo op's they provide. It is pitch black at 6:oopm these days around here and we're not quite done with the shortening of daylight hours. Not so good for working people who would like to enjoy their evenings outside. We poor Northern Hemisphere folk, times are tough!
ReplyDeleteUtterly magical sunset shots that make all the birds stand out with their bright reflection.
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely shots, Dina! I love how the Egret stands out among the Skimmers.
